WordPress Installation

Add virtual product visualization to your WooCommerce store with our WordPress plugin.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.8 or higher
  • WooCommerce 5.0 or higher
  • PHP 7.4 or higher
  • A Tap and Try account (free tier available)

Installation

Option 1: Upload Plugin (Recommended)

  1. Download the Tap and Try plugin ZIP file from your dashboard
  2. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  3. Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now
  4. Click Activate Plugin

Option 2: Manual Installation

  1. Extract the plugin ZIP file
  2. Upload the tap-and-try folder to /wp-content/plugins/
  3. Go to Plugins in WordPress admin and activate Tap and Try

Configuration

  1. Go to Tap and Try → Settings in your WordPress admin
  2. Enter your API key (get one from your Tap and Try dashboard)
  3. Configure button text and position preferences
  4. Click Save Changes

Enabling Products

  1. Go to Tap and Try → Products
  2. Toggle the Enable switch for products you want to activate
  3. Click Sync All Enabled to upload product data
  4. The "Try It On" button will now appear on enabled product pages

✨ What Happens When You Sync

When you sync products, our system automatically:

  • • Uploads your product images to Tap and Try
  • • Removes backgrounds from product images (for transparent overlays)
  • • Imports product names, descriptions, and prices
  • • Creates variants for each product variation
  • • Sets up checkout links back to your store

📝 Further Customization

After syncing, you can make additional edits from your Tap and Try dashboard: upload custom variant images, set default backgrounds, enable Floor Mode for rugs/tiles, adjust button text, and more. Changes made in the dashboard won't be overwritten by future syncs.

💡 Tip: Product Images

For best results, use product images with clean backgrounds. Our system automatically removes backgrounds, but images with solid or simple backgrounds work best.

Button Placement

You can control where the "Try It On" button appears:

  • After Add to Cart - Below the add to cart button (default)
  • Before Add to Cart - Above the add to cart button
  • After Price - Below the product price
  • Manual (Shortcode) - Place anywhere using [tapandtry]

Shortcode Usage

To manually place the button, use the shortcode:

[tapandtry product_id="123"]

Or with custom text:

[tapandtry product_id="123" text="Visualize Now"]

Advanced Features

Marketplace Visibility

Enable "Show in Marketplace" to have your products appear on the Tap and Try marketplace for additional exposure.

Analytics & QR Codes

Access detailed analytics and generate QR codes for your products from the Tap and Try dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Button not appearing?

  • Verify the product is enabled in Tap and Try → Products
  • Check that the product has been synced (shows "Synced" status)
  • Ensure your API key is valid in Settings
  • Clear any caching plugins

Sync failing?

  • Check your API key is correct
  • Verify you haven't exceeded your plan's product limit
  • Ensure the product has at least one image
